So This Season

Vogue editors LOVE consignment shopping. So says a recent post on the US Vogue website. “We’re cool with used clothing,” writes Emily Farra. “even better if it’s ‘past season.’

“Maybe it comes down to the rarity of scoring a 10-year-old dress that’s still in good condition, or perhaps we just want clothes that won’t show up in every street style slideshow. In an age of knockoffs and nonstop newness, having vintage (or almost-vintage) Balenciaga or Dries Van Noten look also cements your status as a True Fashion Fan, unfazed by the newest It item….it’s like a badge of honour.”

Here at TCB, we couldn’t agree more. True style is timeless, and we offer it in spades (or should that be swathes?) whatever the season. This season, of course, is the one to be jolly and we have lots of gorgeous Christmas party dresses, as well as gift ideas for your fashionable loved ones. Here’s a sample:

For the 15-year-old fashionista, you can’t go past this darling floral ASOS dress. So on trend and, at only $29, SO reasonably priced.

Hermes scarf
For your mother-in-law, what about one of these divine Hermes silk scarves ($399), timeless style at its best in such pretty prints and colours?

Vintage dress
For your vintage-loving BFF, why not something from our brand new dedicated vintage rack? It has so much to love, but we are thinking your friend would adore this delicate dotted dress ($39), perfect for wafting, Pimms in hand, around summer parties.

Rachel Gilbert
Speaking of parties, doesn’t a new dress for self makes silly season socialising so much more fun? May we suggest this Rachel Gilbert silk dress ($179), with its stunning scalloped hem and festive beading?

So shop like a Vogue editor, and visit us at TCB. Season’s Greetings to you all.
